Inspector Spot takes your privacy very seriously. Here’s what happens to your details when you register.
Inspector Spot does not sell or rent your details to anyone. He collects and stores the information you provide him with to help him provide the services you require. He uses this information to verify your identity each time you log in, to help you find your pet(s) if they go missing, to provide you or your pet(s) with treats and reminders, and for other uses that you might authorise (such as arranging for Spot to help locate the owner(s) of pets that you find). If you’re particularly naughty, he may also use your details to enforce his terms and conditions, although he prefers not to do this. Essentially, Inspector Spot keeps all your information completely confidential unless you instruct him to do otherwise. He will only release your details if he’s legally required to do so or if he believes it’s appropriate for legal compliance.
If you are using Inspector Spot’s lost and found services, it will be necessary to provide a way for other people to get in contact with you. If you do not want your contact details to be made available to other people, please refrain from using these sections of the website.
If you need to update your details, simply log into Inspector Spot. He’ll guide you through the process of updating your information.
As part of his service, Inspector Spot will email you and/or contact you via snail mail from time to time. If you no longer wish to be contacted by Spot, simply log in and ask to be removed from his database.
When you register with Inspector Spot, you will be asked to choose a password. You are responsible for keeping these safe, and for any actions that are initiated using your password, including fees. We recommend that you avoid passing these details on to anyone else. If you are using a shared computer, we strongly recommend logging out each time you visit our website, to avoid unauthorised access to your account.
Keeping your credit and debit card information secure is really important to us. We keep your card information secure during transmission by using the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol. This encrypts your card details while it is being sent over the internet. Inspector Spot retains a portion of your credit card number to enable us to reconcile your payment with our bank statement, but does not retain your full debit or credit card details. If you ask Spot to save your card details to enable your registration to automatically renew each year, your details are encrypted and stored by DPS (the company that provides our payment system).
The photos you upload to Inspector Spot may contain EXIF data. This data may include details of when and where each photo was taken, and details of the type of device you used to take the photo. We do not review or use this information in any way.
If you no longer wish to be registered with Inspector Spot, simply log in to our website. We’ll guide you through the process of removing your registration.
